Dandelion - Taraxacum officinale one of our favourite herbs and vital for wildlife

 Dandelions have been a vital element in the field of traditional Chinese medicine for around a thousand years. Considered as a native to the Mediterranean, dandelion plants were known well by ancient Egyptians, Romans, and Greeks. The leaves and roots of the plant were medicinally used as a tonic for removing toxins from the bloodstream.   .  

 How can you help:

Our gardens are a vital resource for wildlife, providing corridors of green space between open countryside, allowing species to move about. In fact, the UK's gardens provide more space for nature than all the National Nature Reserves put together. So why not try leaving wilder areas in your garden, such as patches of buttercups in your lawn or nettles near your compost heap, to see who comes to visit?
