Hawthorn Leaf, Flower & Berry Tea: Natural Support for Heart Health and Circulation

You could say our Hawthorn Leaf, Flower & Berry Tea is 'all heart' — and not just because of what it does for yours.

This is one of our most special teas, not just for its remarkable traditional benefits, but for where it comes from. Every leaf, berry, and blossom is hand-foraged respectfully from within our own land here in South Devon — washed, dried, and stored by us before being blended and packed by hand. It doesn't get more from-the-land than this.

The Hawthorn Tree: A Hedgerow Hero

The hawthorn is one of Britain's most beloved native trees, and for good reason. In spring it bursts into clouds of white blossom. In autumn, it's heavy with deep red berries. For centuries it has been woven into folklore, hedgerows, and herbal medicine alike.

We forage ours with care and respect, taking only what the land can give, and turning it into a tea that carries all of that seasonal goodness in every cup.

What's in the Blend?

Our Hawthorn Leaf, Flower & Berry Tea uses the whole plant — because every part has something to offer:

  • Hawthorn Leaves (40%) — Rich in flavonoids and antioxidants, the leaves have long been used in herbal traditions to support healthy circulation.
  • Hawthorn Berries (40%) — The berries are the most studied part of the plant, traditionally associated with heart health, blood pressure support, and cardiovascular wellbeing.
  • Hawthorn Flowers (20%) — Delicate and fragrant, the blossom adds a gentle floral note and contributes its own antioxidant properties to the blend.

Traditional Benefits of Hawthorn

Hawthorn has one of the longest histories of any herb in Western herbal medicine, particularly for heart and circulatory health. Here's what it has traditionally been used for:

  • Heart health — Hawthorn is one of the most well-regarded herbs for cardiovascular support, used for centuries to help maintain a healthy heart.
  • Circulation — Traditionally used to support healthy blood flow and circulation throughout the body.
  • Blood pressure — Often recommended by herbalists as a gentle, long-term support for maintaining healthy blood pressure levels.
  • Antioxidant protection — Packed with flavonoids and oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPCs), hawthorn is a powerful antioxidant that helps protect cells from oxidative stress.
  • Calming — Hawthorn has also been used traditionally to ease anxiety and nervous tension, making it a wonderfully comforting everyday tea.
Always best to check with your health professional before use, particularly if you are taking heart or blood pressure medication.

A Tea for Every Season

Hawthorn is a year-round companion. Warming and comforting in winter, light and floral in spring — it suits every season and every mood. Brew a cup in the morning as a gentle daily ritual, or enjoy it in the evening as a calming wind-down.

Steep a heaped teaspoon in freshly boiled water for 5–7 minutes. Add a little honey if you like. Drink slowly and savour it.
